The target market for driving school businesses is the so called Digital Native described above. Will a driving school who innovates the way in which they interact, transact and communicate with Digital Natives have a clear market advantage?
I believe this to be the case. Learner drivers today are all “native speakers” of the digital language of computers, video games and the Internet.
Prensky states that “Digital Natives are used to receiving information really fast. They like to parallel process and multi-task. They prefer their graphics before their text rather than the opposite. They prefer random access (like hypertext). They function best when networked. They thrive on instant gratification and frequent rewards. They prefer games to “serious” work. (Does any of this sound familiar?)”. Is there not a need to identify new ways to interact and inform learner drivers? Once again I believe that this is an essential change.
